THE POOR START
Robert Lloyd was born and raised in the Midwest. Always an introvert and shy around most people, as a young boy he saved money by delivering newspapers and bought himself a used guitar. Self taught and with a few chords learned he started writing songs. He knew then that he could write anything and everything and any style and for any reason for anyone. He continued writing songs but got sidetracked while playing professionally and started singing the top 40 of the day and that just didn’t interest him much. An atheist at the time, he however cursed the Lord for giving him the musical talent but not allowing him to be more successful. He was a confused young man. Blaming and cursing something he didn’t believe in, or even believe existed, is proof in and of itself how rather pathetic he was at the time. (Many people would agree with that statement and as does Robert). He said one time he wrote a Christian song for a friend (and played it in his friend’s church) even though at the time he wasn’t a believer. He just wanted to showoff and to prove he could write a song about anything whether he believed in it or not. This is what godless arrogance can do to a person. But hold on… things change and for the better.
THE RE-START
Lo and behold… years later, now educated and after several divorces, but by now quietly surrounded by and among Christians… a miracle did happen. Robert was born again… Though he had refused out of bitterness to even pick up a guitar for years, one day, and with a renewed Christian spirit, he did just that and wrote a song after becoming outraged at watching the news. And then he wrote another song and then another and another… He’s never stopped since and seems to pick up on the most odd issues to write about. He’ll write protest songs and then love songs. Then he will turn around and write or CO-write a musical or screenplay. Of course he’s written many Christian songs, but he also writes about the great struggles in life. Robert seems to have the ability to hear the voices of truth calling out over the howling ravages of this new world. He hears the cries of the “Seventeen Little Angels” (children under 8 years old) that only the charred remains of their huddled bodies were found in Waco. He hears the voices of armed, decent Christian men with concerns for their sons and daughters futures. He sees the schools run by scalawags and carpetbaggers that suspend our kids when they speak up for their heritage or God or both. He sees the decay of the Christian South and the utter contempt displayed by the godless New York based corporations towards these people’s ancestors and descendants below the Mason-Dixon line. He also can look at the modern politicians and bureaucrats and say… “I don’t believe a thing you are saying, and I’m going to change this”.
HERITAGE
Robert (a single dad) and his teenaged daughter are Baptists. He is a staunch supporter and member of the League of the South (and believes the South should and will again some day secede from this ungodly Union). He also gives supports with his membership in FreeSouth.org. An interesting note here that Robert truly gets a kick out of… he is one of the few musicians (maybe the only one?) to be offered a membership in the Dixie Writers Guild. Robert realizes the Guild will eventually wake up and discover his true lack of talent and give him the boot. Until then… EEEEEHHH HAAA!
FINAL OBSERVATIONS (to quote Robert himself)
1. Don’t buy any music from me. I don’t want to hear your complaints and compliments embarrass me. I can’t win. Just whistle Dixie while you’re driving down the road and be content with that. At home, whistle Dixie some more.
2. Don’t vote Republican or Democrat (Ok, you can vote for Ron Paul). But for the rest, they’re all crooks and deserve to be tarred and feathered… yes YOUR congress-critter too. Vote for a TRUE Christian conservative in an independent party (Southern preferably… and no women either!).
3. Home school your kids. (I don’t, but do as I say and not as I do. Remember, I’m a musician).
4. Love your wife as Jesus loves the church. (I didn’t and it cost me).
5. Don’t ever give up your guns, bazookas, tanks, or weapons of mass destruction. No one else is. That ought to tell you something.
6. Our kids are what it’s all about. (See #3 for a refresher). Buy them a Play Station 2 or suffer the consequences. If you can’t afford it, then why the heck are you thinking of buying a CD from me? Get out of here… SCOOT!
7. Now if you’re still here (you must be rich and thus guilty of something)… remember, wrestling is fake and so is the President of the United States. I can’t tell you which one would be more of a fake than the other. Probably the President. But Jesus is not and there IS a Santa. Don’t argue with me about it. Remember, I’m a musician.
8. Our government is not “here to help”. (See #2, #3, #5, #6, #7 and especially #9)
9. SCOOT!
